How is reading time calculated?
Estimated reading time is calculated based on an average adult reading speed of 200 to 250 words per minute (WPM).
How are spaces counted in this tool?
Our Text Counter provides both character counts with spaces and without spaces. The "Characters (with spaces)" count includes every letter, number, punctuation mark, and whitespace character, while the "Characters (without spaces)" count excludes all spaces and other whitespace. This gives you accurate metrics for writing requirements, SEO, and platform character limits.
What do Keyword Count and Density mean?
Keyword Count shows how many times a specific word or phrase appears in your text. Keyword Density (%) calculates how frequently that keyword appears compared to the total number of words in the document. This helps writers, bloggers, and SEO professionals optimize content without overusing keywords.
What file formats does the Text Counter support?
We support TXT, CSV, JSON, MD, PDF and DOCX. You can upload up to 5MB file.Our tool parses the text inside your browser without uploading your document to any server. Note: Scanned image PDFs are not supported unless converted to text.
Why is there a 1,000,000 character limit for typing but not for files?
To keep the browser fast, we limit direct typing/pasting to 1,000,000 characters and auto-truncate extra text. For file upload, we don't truncate - we analyze the full file (up to 5MB) in the background. Your textarea will be cleared and show File Mode when a file is uploaded.
